Overview

International Congress on Biotechnologies for Spinal Surgery – BioSpine was founded at the suggestion of Dr. Hans Jörg Meisel, President of the REGENERATE Europe in 2002. Since its inception, seven successful meetings have been organized by Dr. Meisel, founder and Chair BioSpine. Dr. Gianluca Vadalà, and Dr. Marianna Tryfonidou have been instrumental in organizing the recent meetings.
BioSpine is constantly supported by REGENERATE Europe which is an independent professional Association devoted to the interdisciplinary dialogue in Regenerative Medicine and Tissue Engineering formed by Dr. Hans Jörg Meisel, BG Bergmannstrost Clinic, Halle; Dr. Gudrun Knedlitschek, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Karlsruhe; Dr. Dieter Falkenhagen, Donau University Krems, Austria and Dr. Christian Herbst legal advisor, Berlin in 2005 as a European Economic Interest Grouping (EEIG). In 2012 the EEIG has been changed to Regenerate Europe registered association so as to allow natural persons to join the network.

BioSpine strives to deliver the up-to-date knowledge in the spine fi eld to augment competencies and transform clinical practice and improve patients’ lives.

The objectives of BioSpine shall be:
To advance knowledge on novel and innovative biotechnology applications in spine care
√ To provide continuing medical education for medical specialists and students
√ To promote mutual collaboration between different medical specialists, scientists and industrial partners internationally

STATISTICS

BioSpine7 meeting, held in Rome in 2019, focused on the novel biotechnologies applied to spine surgery, promoting mutual collaboration between different specialists and scientists involved in spine field. It was such a big success, as you can see from some important statistics:

MEDTECH EDUCATIONAL SUPPORTS

MedTech Europe, the European trade association representing the medical technology industry, certified OIC as an Ethical MedTech Trusted Partner. Once more, we can support MedTech Europe member Companies and Healthcare Organizations with our suitable compliance services!

THE NEW CODE OF ETHICS

MedTech Europe Code of Ethical Business Practice regulates all aspects of the industry’s relationship with Healthcare Professionals (HCPs) and Healthcare Organisations (HCOs), such as company-organised events, arrangements with consultants, research and financial support to medical education, amongst others. It also introduces an independent enforcement mechanism.

KEY POINTS

From January 1st, 2018, MedTech Europe Member Companies and their representatives no longer permit to provide direct financial support to individual HCPs from the MedTech Europe Geographic Area, which includes EU and EEA countries as well as Russia, Turkey and the countries governed by Mecomed to attend Third-Party Organised Events.
Support to medical education offered to Third Party Organised Events must be provided through Educational Grants given to HCOs, such as scientific societies, hospitals or foundations or Professional Congress Organisers (PCOs). The selection of the beneficiaries of these Grants must be the sole responsibility of the HCO/PCO receiving the Educational Grant.

OPERATIONAL INSTRUCTIONS

Companies that are interested in granting an Educational Support need to inform the Organizing Secretariat no later than February 15, 2022.
A specific newsletter including all the details for Educational Supports will be sent shortly.

General INFORMATION

CONGRESS VENUE

Florence, one of the most beautiful and visited art cities in the world, is an open-air museum, placed in the UNESCO’s World Heritage List since 1982.
In the fifteenth-century Florence, a self-governed, independent city-state with a population of 60.000, became the cradle of Renaissance culture thanks to its writers, painters, architects and philosophers. Nowadays, Florentine museums, palaces and churches represent some of the greatest artistic treasures in the world.

“Biospine 2022” will be hosted in a really fascinating location, the “Istituto degli Innocenti”, a spectacular project of Filippo Brunelleschi, considered the first engineer and designer of the modern age, one of the three great initiators of the Florentine Renaissance with Donatello and Masaccio.
At the time, when the Institute was established, during the fi rst half of the fi fteenth century, it was the fi rst institution in the known world devoted exclusively to child care and has worked uninterruptedly for over six centuries to help children and families.

With such relevant philosophical and scientific inheritance, with its beautiful Mediterranean climate, good and healthy food and great shopping, Florence is the ideal place to host BIOSPINE 2022.

We look forward to meeting you in this unique place, ranked by Forbes as one of the most beautiful cities in the world!

HOW TO GET TO “ISTITUTO DEGLI INNOCENTI”

By plane:
Florence is easy to reach from anywhere in Europe with a maximum of one stopover. Once you arrive in Florence, the Conference venue is located about 10 kilometers from the airport. Direct flights are also available from many major European hubs. The International Florence Airport “Amerigo Vespucci” (IATA code – FLR) can be easily reached by taxi or with the ‘Vola in bus’ public shuttle service, which connects the airport to the main railway station, Santa Maria Novella Station, in just 15-20 minutes.
